π£ Event Spotlight: The Politics of Care β A Workshop by Covid Safe Oberlin
Our friends at Covid Safe Oberlin are hosting a Mayday Edition workshop on Thursday, May 1st from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM in Wilder 215.
What is community care, and how does a burnt-out college student actually do it? This workshop will cover how Covid works, harm reduction strategies, and how the lessons of care apply to all forms of oppression. The group will also dive into apathy as a tool of fascism and colonialism, and community care as a powerful response.
Open to students and community members alike. A virtual option is available, and the space is fully accessible (elevator, air filter, multiple seating options). Masking up if able is encouraged.

π©Ί Lunch & Learn: A Medical Mystery with Dr. Graham Akeson!
Take a break from studying and join us on Thursday, May 7th from 12:15β1:00 PM in Science Center K100 for a fascinating case study presented by Oberlin alum Dr. Graham Akeson (OC '12)! When a routine check-up in a healthy patient led to the discovery of a past cardiac arrest, old scans and the physics of airflow in the lungs revealed how an asthma episode triggered a life-threatening event. Come find out how the mystery unravels β and enjoy a free Chipotle lunch while you're at it!
Please RSVP by May 5th at 12:00 PM using this link: https://forms.gle/R96C7vxBzPaq2Avw9
